Dear Peter,

Re your latest Roman intaglio ring on your website: it is an antidote for love: Eros seated, bound to a column, inscription in Greek letters: DIKAIWC: ‘Justly’ – i. e. the brat deserves the punishment he is undergoing (reversing and returning the tortures he habitually inflicts on others); on column a griffin with wheel, symbol of Nemesis: Divine Retribution, further underlining the point.

For the motif see Fig. 4 and commentary in attached attached article by Verity Platt.

Best,
Ittai

I thank my friend Ittai Gradel for his help
