An ancient Roman cornelian intaglio of a sphynx on top of a column at its base a male winged figure . With letters on the right . Altough the intaglio is chipped it is a rare subject and the size of the gem is imressive. Later mount in 22 ct gold

Re your latest Roman intaglio ring on your website: it is an antidote for love: Eros seated, bound to a column, inscription in Greek letters: DIKAIWC: ‘Justly’ – i. e. the brat deserves the punishment he is undergoing (reversing and returning the tortures he habitually inflicts on others); on column a griffin with wheel, symbol of Nemesis: Divine Retribution, further underlining the point.
